American Principles Project (APP) President Terry Schilling recently expressed his excitement after hearing that John Gibbs defeated incumbent Rep. Peter Meijer in the GOP primary for Michigan’s 3rd congressional district. APP played a vital role in campaigning for this congressional race. It was a surprising upset, according to Bridge Michigan.
American Principles Project’s super PAC was active in the congressional race, running a digital ad campaign condemning Meijer's support of H.R. 1440, the “Fairness for All Act,” characterizing it as "harmful transgender legislation."
"The Big Family earned a massive win tonight in Michigan’s 3rd district," Schilling said in a statement. "Peter Meijer was one of the chief sell-out Republicans in Congress, most notably betraying families with his support for a bill that would put boys in girls’ sports and private spaces. Even as other GOP members dropped off the legislation recently due to its likely radical impacts, Meijer has still refused to change course. But tonight, voters in Michigan sent a message to other sell-out Republicans like Meijer: if you abandon us, you will be unelected. Now, voters will have the opportunity to send a true conservative champion, John Gibbs, to Congress in November who will fight on their behalf. APP fully endorses Gibbs’ candidacy, and we look forward to him joining the growing ranks of pro-family lawmakers in Washington next year."
Another campaign video from APP's super PAC also praised Trump-endorsed Gibbs as a conservative leader and signer of APP’s Big Family Pledge.
APP's "The Big Family Pledge" states that "families are under relentless attack by woke left-wing activists" and asks national leaders to take action to "defend families at all costs."
