Central Michigan University recently hosted a dining etiquette event for sophomore student-athletes, aiming to educate them on fine dining practices and professional networking. The gathering took place at the Chippewa Champions Center on March 18, with participation from 65 student-athletes and 12 professionals.
The evening began with an educational session covering dinner arrival protocols, preparation, handshakes, and introductions. Participants then applied these skills while seating themselves and interacting with others at their tables.
"Last week we hosted a Dining Etiquette program for all Sophomore student-athletes. All those in attendance learned the do's and don'ts of professional dining while enjoying a three-course meal provided by CMU catering," stated CMU Student-Athlete L&D on Twitter.
During the meal, which was catered by Central Michigan University, attendees received further instruction on table settings, passing items around the table, napkin use, among other topics. The event also provided an opportunity for student-athletes to network with professionals and peers.
This etiquette event was part of the CMU Athletics 4-Year Career Series aimed at preparing students for professional environments. Among those who attended were athletes from various sports teams including baseball, basketball, cross country, field hockey, football, golf, gymnastics, lacrosse, soccer, softball, and volleyball.
