Ten Chippewas earn CSC academic all-district at-large honor

Central Michigan University featured 10 student-athletes in College Sports Communicators' (CSC) Academic All-District At-Large release Tuesday, with representatives from Chippewa Gymnastics, Lacrosse, Women's Golf, and Wrestling. CMU's 2024 CSC Academic All-District honorees are:

Jozy Allen (Cincinnati, Ohio / Sycamore), junior, lacrosse

Luciana Alvarado-Reid (Cartago, Costa Rica / Soluciones Educativas), sophomore, gymnastics

Alex Cramer (Grayslake, Ill. / Grayslake), senior, wrestling

Sandy Edwards (Stuart, Fla. / Jensen Beach), senior, lacrosse

Ashley Goh (Johor Bahru, Malaysia / SMK Sultan Ismail), senior, women's golf

Hallie Hornbacher (Caro, Mich. / Caro), senior, gymnastics

Sadie Hinkle (Medina, Ohio / Medina), junior, lacrosse

Vince Perez (Adrian, Mich. / Tecumseh), senior, wrestling

Sean Spidle (Lapeer, Mich. / Powers Catholic), sophomore, wrestling

Cameron Wood (Montoursville, Pa. / Montoursville), sophomore, wrestling

For all sports categories considered for the honorifics list above a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically and maintain a cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 or higher.

In gymnastics specifically a student-athlete must rank in the top 75 of NCAA I competition in one of the sport's four events or as an all-around competitor. In lacrosse students must either appear in 90 percent of games or make the starting lineup in two-thirds of games. In both golf and wrestling athletes must be in their team's lineup for at least 70 percent of tournaments/matches.
