From the Michigan Association of Conservation Districts:
Today is Conservation District Day! We're celebrating all the natural wonders we work so hard to conserve: Water, Soil, Farms, Wildlife, Forests & Dunes.
Did you know…
- Michigan has 75 (!) Conservation Districts
- Each CD is vital to preserving & protecting natural resources on Michigan’s working lands
- Michigan’s first CD law dates back to 1937 (in response to the Dust Bowl)
New here? A bit about CDs:
- They provide natural resource management services, similar to local fire, police, health & school services
- CDs are run by your neighbors! They’re folks just like you, dedicated to helping fellow-Michiganders conserve their lands & waterways
- They help keep our environment as clean, healthy & economically robust as can be!
What can you do to celebrate Conservation District Day? Spread the word! Share this post with a friend or talk to a neighbor about the work your local CD does!
