Christmas Tree Pickup Begins Monday, January 10, Weather Permitting

Garbage

City of Niles issued the following announcement on Jan 6.

Niles Street Department will begin their Christmas Tree Pickup Program on Monday, January 10, WEATHER PERMITTING.  Crews will only be making ONE TRIP through the entire city.  Crews will begin in the First Ward, then continue through the Second, Third, and Fourth Wards.

Trees should be placed at the edge of the street, NOT in the street, no later than Sunday, January 9.  Trees must also be removed from plastic bags and must be completely stripped of all ornaments, lights, tree stands, etc.  If trees do not adhere to these rules, they will NOT be picked up.

Anyone who does not wish to discard their Christmas tree at this time can participate in the regular brush chipping program which will resume in April 2022.
