National Make A Difference Day

Holloween

City of Detroit recently issued the following announcement.

A sense of community comes from its people - the diverse group of people who contribute to the successes and access the needs!

Today is Make A Difference Day and acts as a reminder to seek out ways we can give back to strengthen and enhance our community. This way, we can make a difference not only in our own lives, but in the lives of our neighbors.

There are SO MANY ways you can volunteer with the City, around the community, or through different Detroit-based organizations. Tell us your favorite way to volunteer your time to “make a difference” in the community.

Here’s a small sample of opportunities you can make difference, starting today!

Halloween in the D

From candy packing to decorating candy drive-up stations, let’s make this year’s Halloween in the D a fun night for kids and families. To get involved and learn more about the volunteer opportunity, contact Volunteer Coordinator Breanna Sullivan at sullivanb@detroitmi.gov or (313) 236-8521.

Motor City Makeover 365

For the past 30 years, Motor City Makeover 365 is the citywide volunteer cleanup and beautification initiative. You can volunteer all year round as an individual or as a group! Find out how you can volunteer at motorcitymakeover.org!

Block Club Program

Get involved with your neighborhood’s block club or start one! Block Clubs are directed connected to District Managers and provide resources to rejuvenate the community directly around you, such as starting a neighborhood garden or park.
