Quarantine Guidance for Students with COVID Symptoms

Covid 19

Chippewa Hills School District issued the following announcement on Aug 31.

It needs to be made clear that the quarantine issue that occurred today at school regarding some of our athletes is due to being close contacts.

Contrary to some misrepresentation that has been occurring, it is not about requiring vaccinations. While it is true that a person's vaccination status does have an impact on whether quarantining does occur, it is not about requiring vaccinations to participate in any sport or activity at school.

The protocols that are being followed, as agreed upon by all but one district in the ISD, follows the recommendations from our local health department in addressing close contacts and/or students with symptoms (both flowcharts are shared). Athletes quarantined today were due to being close contacts, that is it.

There is no discrimination occurring, it is simply the protocol for being exposed as a close contact and the resulting quarantine. Please refer to the provided guidance sheets to fully understand how close contacts and symptomatic students are being addressed.
