City of Detroit issued the following announcement on July 17.
A flood warning is in effect for Wayne County today until 5:15pm.
Residents are encouraged to:
- Check for road closures if traveling and avoid all flooded freeways and streets
-Report flooding and flood-damage using the Improve Detroit App to avoid long call wait times, otherwise call 313-267-8000
- Follow flood safety tips. Do not walk in standing water, particularly if the area includes electrical appliances or exposed outlets. Do not drive in standing water.
- Take precautions for the event of more rain, including moving valuables to upper floors and making sure your rain-gutters and downspouts are cleared of leaves and other debris.
