FOIA Request Sent to Oceana County Election Division Regarding Voting Machines Testing Report on October 30, 2024

FOIA Request to Oceana County Election Division Regarding Voting Machines Pre-Election Test Report on October 30, 2024.

As a part of our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at West Central Michigan News have sent a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Oceana County Election Division.

The request, dated October 30, 2024, seeks access to records related to the pre-election testing of voting machines. Specifically, we have asked for the test reports in PDF format with details including the test date, machine manufacturer, machine model number, and machine status indicating whether it passed or failed.

Access to these public records is crucial for us in fulfilling our professional responsibilities. This includes holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. As a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as per the provisions of the Michigan Freedom of Information Act § 15.231 et seq.

We will continue to keep you updated as we strive to ensure transparency and accountability in our local government operations.
