Central Michigan University's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics are set to host the annual Maroon & Gold Gala. The event, sponsored by Enterprise, will take place on Monday, April 15 at McGuirk Arena starting at 6:30 p.m. ET.
The gala celebrates CMU Athletics and its over 400 student-athletes. It is a formal occasion where dinner will be served exclusively to Chippewa student-athletes, coaches, and members of the athletics department. Although attendance is limited to these groups, a live stream will be available for the general public, family members, and friends on the CMU Chippewas website one day before the event.
Nearly 30 awards recognizing achievements from spring 2023 through winter 2024 will be presented. Awards include Moment of the Year, Spring Impact Player of the Year, Spark Player of the Year, Game of the Year, Coach of the Year, Team of the Year, Community Impact Award, and Chippewa Impact Award. Male and female athletes will compete for honors such as Newcomer of the Year and Athlete of the Year among others.
Additionally, top scholar-athletes at CMU will receive recognition during this event. Two significant awards—the Bill Boyden Leadership Award and Dick Enberg Scholar-Athlete Award—are scheduled to be announced next fall.
Adam Jaksa will fulfill his role as Master of Ceremonies for this year's gala. Notably, this fall saw a rebranding of what was formerly known as the Chippewa Athletic Awards to its current title.
