Central Michigan University has launched its most ambitious fundraising campaign, Maroon & Gold BOLD, aimed at enhancing the experience and well-being of over 400 student-athletes annually. The initiative seeks to raise $25 million over five years, focusing on improving the performance of 17 CMU Chippewa varsity sports and enriching fan experiences.
"This campaign pulls us together to fuel a future that serves today's student-athletes, while positioning the university to continue its history of excellence in the MAC," stated Amy Folan, Zyzelewski Family Associate Vice President and Director of Athletics. She emphasized the campaign's potential to unite supporters in backing both teams and Central Michigan University.
The fundraising effort will target three primary areas: student-athlete experience, fan engagement, and leadership in performance within the Mid-American Conference (MAC). "We must continuously improve the quality of academic and athletic opportunities for our student-athletes, increase fan engagement to serve our 245,000 alumni worldwide and expand the resources that promote athletic excellence within the MAC," Folan explained.
Donors are encouraged to direct their contributions toward specific initiatives aligned with their interests. An example is a recent donation from Tony and Kim Voisin that established the Student Spirit and Traditions Endowment Fund. This fund aims to boost student involvement in athletics during their time at CMU.
"Strong supporters of CMU Athletics are coming forward with incredible gifts, and we'll be sharing their stories as the campaign continues," said Folan. "Every gift makes a difference. I'm excited to work with alumni and fans to make CMU Athletics everything it can be."
