Wrestling coach Tom Borrelli has announced his retirement following a successful career, highlighted by his team's recent Mid-American Conference Championship win. Borrelli, who is recognized as one of the sport's most successful coaches, leaves behind a legacy at Central Michigan University (CMU) that spans over three decades. Since taking on the role of head coach in 1991, he has secured 30 MAC championships and has been named MAC Coach of the Year 15 times.

"Thank you, Tom, for your dedication to Central Michigan and all of the student-athletes, coaches and others you've impacted over the years. Enjoy your retirement — you will be missed!" reads a statement acknowledging his contributions.

In other developments at CMU, student engagement remains a focus. The Toilet Paper Toss game last year was cited as a memorable event by both student-athletes and fans. The tradition continued with another game against Western Michigan on February 17th at McGuirk Arena.

Efforts to increase student involvement in athletics have been bolstered by a new fund established through a donation from CMU retirees Tony and Kim Voisin. This initiative aims to enhance opportunities for students to support their teams.

"The Voisin's story is a shining example of how our incredible supporters can combine their history, passions and future to leave a lasting legacy on CMU and our athletics program," according to the announcement.

Looking forward, spring sports such as golf, baseball, softball, lacrosse, and track are underway. Preparations for fall sports have also begun with football practices starting last week and season tickets now available for purchase.
