Central Michigan Athletics has upgraded its Turf Bay indoor practice facility with a new state-of-the-art surface, featuring AstroTurf's advanced RootZone 3DSF 52-ounce turf system. The installation was carried out by AstroTurf Great Lakes, the exclusive distributor for AstroTurf in Michigan.

The new turf system is known for its durability, superior playability, and enhanced safety features. It incorporates a unique three-dimensional root zone and dense fiber construction that provides a natural grass-like feel while minimizing injury risks.

"We are thrilled with the new AstroTurf field in our indoor practice facility," said Amy Folan, Zyzelewski Family Associate Vice President/Director of Athletics. "The AstroTurf RootZone turf system offers our student-athletes a premier surface that enhances their training experience while prioritizing their safety. This investment demonstrates our dedication to supporting our teams with the best resources available."

Todd DeWolfe, President of AstroTurf Great Lakes, expressed pride in partnering with Central Michigan University. "The AstroTurf system is designed to provide unparalleled performance and longevity, ensuring that CMU's athletes train on a surface that meets the highest standards," he said.

Opened in 1999, Central Michigan's Turf Bay is a 21,600-square-foot facility used by all 17 varsity sports teams and hosts several camps, clinics, and club teams. The facility supports various sports including football, field hockey, soccer, baseball, lacrosse, and softball during inclement weather. Additionally, it serves as part of the strength and conditioning programs for all athletic teams.

The Turf Bay is part of Central Michigan's Indoor Athletic Complex which also includes the Dick Enberg Academic Center, weight room, athletic training room, team meeting rooms, administrative offices as well as baseball and track and field offices.

AstroTurf continues to set industry standards for synthetic turf solutions through innovation and quality. The successful installation at Central Michigan represents another milestone in their mission to deliver high-quality playing surfaces for athletes at all levels.
