Fremont Public School District welcomed 2,094 students in 2022-23 school year

There were 2,094 students enrolled in Fremont Public School District in the 2022-23 school year, 2.8% more than the previous year, according to the Michigan Department of Education.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 50.6% of them were boys, and 49.4% were girls.

Data also shows that most of the students were white, representing 89.2% of the Fremont Public School District total enrollment.

Fremont Public School District covers five schools within Newaygo County with its main office in Fremont. Among them, Fremont High School recorded the highest enrollment of 674 students in the 2022-23 school year.

Overall student enrollment in Michigan remains below pre-pandemic levels, white students experiencing the largest decline at 6.5%.

Academic performance has also suffered, with the state's average NAEP score dropping by 6.5 points and ethnic achievement gaps widening. Black and Hispanic students' average math proficiency dropped by 7% in 2022, to 13.5% and 28.2%, respectively.
