Michigan saw Committee to Elect Padma Kuppa in cities associated with Newaygo County spend the most during Q2 2021

Committee to Elect Padma Kuppa spent the most out of all the political committees based in cities associated with Newaygo County during the second quarter of 2021, according to the Michigan Department of State.

The committee paid $7,627 to two vendors.

The largest expense was $2,000 paid to Plymouth-based Ashleigh Schoeninger for stipend - campaign work.

The second largest political spend from a committee operating in a city within Newaygo County during the quarter came from A Better Michigan. It spent $4,100 during the time period on two different vendors.

What’s known as “dark money,” which comes from political non-profits and shell corporations, has greatly increased expenditures and donations in recent elections to record-breaking highs.

Total political expenditures made by candidates in the 2022 elections amounted to $147 million.
