Grab a group of friends, family, coworkers, or neighbors to take advantage of a fun new way to be a ‘piece’ of the City’s Midland City Modern Master Plan process: Pizza and Planning!

The City Planning Commission and the Grace A. Dow Memorial Library invite Midlanders to hold their own mini master planning input session with a customized Pizza and Planning kit. Each kit will contain pizza-themed items that will help create the perfect “Midland Pizza” (Master Plan), including a menu of toppings that represent specific goals or objectives that have been identified as priorities by the Planning Commission. Together, each pizza-making group will decide which of their eight (8) favorite toppings to put on the (given the highest priority in the City’s new Master Plan). There’s only one rule for selecting a pizza-making crew: Everyone involved should want to make Midland an exceptional place where everyone thrives, now and in the future!

Completed and returned pizza kits will help the Planning Commission and City Planning staff determine which goals and objectives should be included in the City’s newest Master Plan, the guiding document for growth and development in the community for the next 20-30 years.

Pizza kits can be picked up at the Library’s Adult Reference Desk beginning Tuesday, February 21. Please complete and return pizzas to the Library’s Circulation Desk by Saturday, April 15.

Upcoming open house sessions about the City Modern Master Plan are currently scheduled for Thursday, April 27 at the Grace A. Dow Memorial Library; and Monday, August 7 at City Hall. More information on these and other events will be shared as more details are made available.

The City’s Master Plan serves as the City’s official policy guide and strategy for community improvements and development over the next 30 years. Master plans help maintain a consistent vision in cities while directing redevelopment and change, increasing livability and neighborhoods, and transforming it into a more sustainable, innovative, accessible, attractive, and economically vibrant community. The City’s last comprehensive master planning process took place in 2005 – 2006.
