The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) has awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to the City of Flint Finance Department for its annual comprehensive financial report (ACFR) for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2021.
The award-winning report is available here.
“I am so proud of the team we’ve assembled in the City of Flint Finance Department, and I want to commend their continued dedication to transparency,” Flint Mayor Sheldon Neeley said. “This is a testament to their hard work, and this speaks to strong leadership by our Chief Financial Officer Rob Widigan, as well as the excellence and high standards of his team.”
The City of Flint’s 2021 ACFR has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report.
According to GFOA, the Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.
