City of Flint Police Department seizes three kilograms of Fentanyl

The City of Flint Police Department’s Special Investigative Unit seized three kilograms of Fentanyl during an operation on July 1, 2022. Three individuals were arrested in connection with the investigation and charges are pending.“This is a very dangerous narcotic,” Mayor Sheldon Neeley said. “We don’t want to minimize what this great achievement by our Special Investigative Unit, under the watchful eye of Chief Terence Green, has accomplished by taking these narcotics off the streets of the City of Flint.

This is a major, major bust.”Inhaling the dust from Fentanyl or absorbing it through the skin can cause serious medical issues and even death. “The seizure of this large quantity of Fentanyl definitely saved lives,” Police Chief Terence Green said.Chief Green said that Fentanyl is a major issue in the City of Flint. In addition to fighting violent crime, the Flint Police Department is fighting to prevent overdose deaths.

Chief Green said the next steps in this fight are referring residents to treatment programs for opioid addiction, as well as continued aggressive enforcement. That includes initiating investigations that lead to search warrants and arrests of drug traffickers. Chief Green said he has assigned detectives to Flint Area Narcotics Group and the federal Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA).

The goal is to curb the opioid epidemic and prevent overdose deaths.“Our men and women of the Special Investigative Unit did an excellent job on this investigation, along with other members of the Flint City Police Department,” Chief Green said. “And it doesn’t stop here. We’ll continue to fight and save lives by seizing these large quantities of narcotics.”
