Muskegon YMCA’s Livestrong program for cancer survivors

Bc

City of Montague issued the following announcement on Aug 31.

Starting on September 14, the Muskegon YMCA’s Livestrong program for cancer survivors will be coming to the new Viking Athletic Center in Whitehall. The Y will welcome a new class of survivors to the Whitehall location to continue their healing by regaining the strength and endurance lost during cancer treatments. Livestrong with the Y provides a program where survivors can improve their strength and physical fitness, diminish the severity of therapy side effects, develop supportive relationships, and improve their quality of life. The program not only focuses on physical health, but also emphasizes the emotional well-being of survivors and their families by providing a supportive environment where those impacted by cancer can connect during treatment, and beyond.

Livestrong with the YMCA is a small group based physical activity program led by specially trained YMCA Instructors.  Instructors are specially selected to lead the small group program based on their ability to treat the whole person, including mind, body and spirit. The class will be offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays for 12 weeks and is offered at no charge to survivors.

If you are interested in learning more about the program, or becoming a supporter of Livestrong with the YMCA, please contact Kelli DeLong by phone at (231) 722-9622 x205, or by email at kdelong@muskegonymca.org.
