Fremont Public School District issued the following announcement on Aug 26.
It was brought to our attention this week that Weaver Street will be officially closing permanently beginning tomorrow (August 26) in an agreement between the City of Fremont and Gerber Products Company.
This means that there will be only two major roads in town (besides Division Street) that can be used for traveling from the north side of town: Stone Road and Darling Street.
Beginning the first morning of school, parent drop-off at Daisy Brook will no longer take place in front of the building on Division Street. Because of new bussing routes, morning parent drop-off will now be taking place east of Daisy Brook on Darling Street at the current bus loop drop.
In order to transport students across town, Division Street will now be used for 20 school buses that need to travel back and forth from Pathfinder to Daisy Brook schools. Each morning, parents who drive and drop their children off at school will need to do so on Darling Street between 7:30 am – 8:00 am
Thankfully, pick-up in the afternoon will be able to be the same as previous years. Buses will pick up on Darling Street, and cars will line-up on Division Street. This is still possible because we need only six buses at Daisy Brook for our afternoon runs.
We apologize for the last-minute change. We are not completely sure of the impact of closing Weaver Street, at Pathfinder or Daisy Brook and may have to make additional changes as the school year moves forward. Thanks for your patience as we attempt to navigate this change.
To assist over the next couple of weeks, we will have staff stationed both on Division and Darling Streets. As a reminder:
Morning: Parent Drop Off and Parking: Darling Street
Bus Drop Off: Division Street
Afternoon: Parent Pick-Up: Division Street
Bus Pick-Up: Darling Street
Should you have questions, please contact the office at 231-924-2350 for further information.
Thanks,
Ken Haggart
