Michigan Works West Central issued the following announcement on June 25.
Shoppers will soon have a new department store to visit in the Big Rapids area.
A new Marshalls store will be moving into the property that formerly housed MC Sports, located at 1286 Perry Avenue in Big Rapids.
The building has sat vacant since 2017, when the corporation filed for bankruptcy.
Aaron Holsworth, a building official with the Mecosta County Building and Zoning Department, told the Pioneer a permit was issued for TJX Companies Inc. — which owns the department store — for the property last week.
Marshalls is the nation’s leading off-price retailer. Currently, the closest Marshalls to Big Rapids is located in Grand Rapids.
