Rep. Scott VanSingel | Michigan House Republicans
Michigan state Rep. Scott VanSingel (R-Grant) was recently on hand to celebrate the retirement of a Newaygo County Road Commission employee. Kelly Smith, manager for Newaygo County Road Commission, has retired after working 35 years for the County.
VanSingel had his own major news a few days before: He announced that he had filed to run for a third and final term in the Michigan House of Representatives. He represents the 100th District, which includes Lake, Oceana and Newaygo counties.
VanSingel currently serves on the appropriations committee. He is the chairman of the higher education and community colleges appropriations subcommittee. VanSingel also serves on the corrections, natural resources and environmental quality, and licensing and regulatory affairs appropriations subcommittees.
VanSingel earned undergraduate degrees in finance and accounting from Central Michigan University and went on to earn a master’s in business from Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids Charter Township.
